Ranger Showcase Update TBA for the 2018-2019 school year
THE RESEARCH TOPIC HAS BEEN SELECTED FOR THE 2016-2017 SCHOOL YEAR IT IS AS FOLLOWS:
"OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL"
This research topic can be broken down into the following sub topic categories listed below. A Research Packet will be given to each student to help guide them through this process.This Major Grade project will be due on January 26, 2017 No exceptions. The below pictures can be used as an outline example to get started along with the packet. Class time will be given weekly to help with completing this assignment , but home time is strongly encouraged as well, to ensure the assignment is completed in a timely fashion. If your child has a jump drive/USB this will be needed to save any information on regarding their research topic and information obtained through the research process. Students will work in learning groups to complete this assignment.
TPO- Students will identify, analyze, and generate a research project that projects Changes in Houston, and what it means for a middle school student.
What you will need this week-
You have this week to work on your final research paper and final product to turn in on Friday. Please make sure you have addressed the following in your paper before you submit on Friday, and make sure your final project is addressing the problem and what you as a middle school student will do to correct or make this problem better. Please make sure you use resources from the following 2-Books,2-Videos, 1-Magazine that will make a total for 5 resources.
This is a detail description of what your 5 pages should look like.
Page 1- Title Page- Your Correct Heading Should Be On This Page Along With The Title Of Your Paper This Should Be Centered On Your Paper.
Page 2- This page should include information about the problem you are researching, you should have information from your sources (internet, books etc.) to address the problem
Page 3- This page should address the problem and what others (though your research) have tried to do to combat the problem but it has not worked
Page 4- This page should focus on what you plan to do as a middle school student to alleviate the problem, and how the product you are producing is going to help the problem you are researching
Page 5- Reference Sited Page- Please list all the resources examples- books, magazines, you tube videos etc. that you used to collect your information for your paper.
Requirements- Listed below are classroom friendly toipcs that can be used for the project "Equality For All' The assignment has to be a minimum of 5 pages typed with a title page and reference page included in the 5 pages. Please submitted your final paper in a clear report cover, please make sure it is typed. If you are your group would like to select another "Equality For All" Topic feel free to submit your request for approval to me before the deadline date. Students are able to work in their selected groups are alone on this project, the requirements will remain the same..

• Prayer in schools Another direction to go is education. For this field, you could discuss home schooling, the No Child Left Behind Act, required standardized testing or violence in schools. Some questions in these areas might include, "How effective is home schooling in relation to public schooling?" "Is the No Child Left Behind Act actually effective?" and, "Who is responsible for violence in schools: the child, the parents or the administration?"

October 31- Research Topic is Given- Choose a topic which interests and challenges you.
November 1-- Research Day With Your Group (Brainstorming and Topic Discussion Session)FIND INFORMATION. Surf the Net.
November 2- STATE YOUR THESIS. Do some critical thinking and write your thesis statement down in one sentence.
Create an Outline- Source Cards from Research
November 11th- MAKE A TENTATIVE OUTLINE
November 18th- ORGANIZE YOUR NOTES.
December 2nd- WRITE YOUR FIRST DRAFT
December 16- CONTINUE RESEARCH AND WRITING ON YOUR ONE PAGE ARE RESEARCH
January 13th- REVISE YOUR OUTLINE AND DRAFT
January 26- February 1, 2017- FINAL PRODUCT AND TYPED PAPER CAN BE WORKED ON IN CLASS
